Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using RookWorlds (“the Service”) at rookworlds.com, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

RookWorlds is a chess application. It lets you play chess against an engine or against friends, import and study your games, take notes, and receive deterministic, engine-grounded coaching. The Service is provided “as is” and may change or be discontinued at any time.

3. Your account

• You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
• You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Free use & optional plan

The Service is free to use. Your games, notes, coaching, and engine analysis are always available. An optional paid plan may be offered in future, processed by Stripe; if it is, payments would be non-refundable except where required by applicable law, cancellation would stop future charges, and access would continue until the end of the billing period. We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice.

5. Your content

You own the notes and game data you create. By using the Service you grant us a limited licence to store and process your content solely to provide the Service. Your content is not sent to any third-party AI service.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, overload, or compromise the Service.
• Scrape or systematically extract data from the Service.
• Impersonate another person or entity.

7. Coaching content

Coaching is generated automatically from a chess engine and a curated knowledge base, and may occasionally be incomplete. It is provided for educational purposes only. Do not rely on it as professional advice.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, accuracy of coaching, or fitness for any particular purpose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the profile modal. We may terminate or suspend access at our discretion. On termination, your data is deleted per our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected in the updated date above. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
